14 faculty named fellows for student success

The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor has announced its fourth cohort of Faculty Fellows for Student Success. The fellows are:

  • Ajai Ammachathram, assistant professor, Food and Beverage Extension Specialist, Hospitality Tourism and Management
  • Ryan Patrick, lecturer, Computer Science and Engineering
  • Georgia Jones, associate professor, extension food specialist, Nutrition and Health Sciences
  • Melissa Gomis, associate professor of practice, University Libraries
  • Mardi Schmeichel, associate professor, Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education
  • Tamy Burnett, associate director, University Honors Program, English and Women's and Gender Studies
  • Susan Ourada, associate professor and director, Dance Studies
  • Ray Reichenberg, research assistant professor, Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools
  • Alexander Zupan, associate professor, Mathematics
  • Witawas Srisa-an, professor and vice chair, Computer Science and Engineering
  • Taylor Livingston, assistant professor of practice, Global Integrative Studies
  • Souparno Ghosh, associate professor, Statistics
  • Mark Lakamp, captain and chair, Naval Science
  • Kathleen Lacey, academic adviser and lecturer, English and Women's and Gender Studies

"This is our largest cohort to date and I am excited to see the continued enthusiasm for this program," said Amy Goodburn, senior associate vice chancellor and dean of undergraduate education. "We'll be focused on strategies for retention, experiential learning, academic advocacy, case management and addressing equity gaps in degree completion."

The fellows will meet each month to review research literature on factors that impact student success, study’s institutional data, and discuss university initiatives surrounding student success. They will also interact with directors of academic support and engagement units and former fellows who have facilitated student success initiatives in their departments and colleges.
