The University Libraries are partnering with Katrina Jagodinsky, Susan J. Rosowski, associate professor of history, and students from her Rights and Wrongs in American Legal History (HIST 340) course to host the 2025 Wikipedia Edit-a-thon.
The event, which is free and open to the public, runs from 9 a.m. to noon April 29 in Love Library South, Room 221. Visit the event page for more information and to RSVP.
This year's theme is “Justice for All," with participants writing and editing Wikipedia entries about underrepresented groups and people active in the law. Participants may edit or write entries on any topic or person of interest. No experience is required. University librarians and faculty will be available to assist with research and to provide tutorials on writing and editing Wikipedia entries.
The University Libraries has partnered with faculty and students to host this annual event, which started in 2022. Topics each year focus on improving the representation of people of color, women and other gender-suppressed people on Wikipedia by adding and editing entries to fill in information gaps.
Students participating in the event express the importance of library resources in their research. The guidance students receive from librarians becomes a valuable part of this real-world classroom experience.
Entries written and edited by students and other participants during these events remain important contributions to Wikipedia’s internationally known open-access content long into the future.
