Achievements | Honors, awards, publications for Nov. 4


Recent accomplishments earned by members of the campus community include Dipra Jha, Richard Moberly, Ying Liu and the Nebraska Extension Food Team.

Faculty/Staff

Dipra Jha, assistant professor of practice of hospitality, restaurant and tourism management, presented at Corvinus Business School on Oct. 24 in Budapest, Hungary. The presentation was part of the school’s Science Café public lecture series that was attended by students and faculty from Corvinus, as well as industry professionals. Corvinus is considered to have the top business program in Hungary. For more information, click here.

Richard Moberly, interim dean of the College of Law, was presented the President’s Professionalism Award Oct. 28 during the Nebraska State Bar’s annual meeting. Moberly shared the award with Lyle Koenig, co-chair of the NSBA’s Rural Practice Initiative, for their work creating the Rural Legal Opportunities Program. The program is designed to attract more rural students into the law profession and to alleviate the shortage of attorneys in many rural areas.

Students

Ying Liu, a doctoral student in electrical engineering from Laser Assisted Nano Engineering Lab, received a second-place student paper award at the 2016 International Congress on Applications of Lasers and Electro-Optics on Oct. 20 in San Diego, California. Liu’s paper, “Laser Direct Writing of Multifunctional Micro/Nano Devices Using Carbon Nanotube-Polymer Composites,” talks about 3D printing of functional micro-nano devices using carbon nanotubes. Departments/College/Units

The Nebraska Extension Food Team was presented with the Creative Excellence Award in September. The award was presented in recognition of individuals or small teams and their unique contributions to extension programming by being innovative in their approach to addressing emerging issues. The Food Team has successfully adapted materials and presentations to digital formats, repurposed content for the Internet, and posted on social media sites to maximize programming efforts. The team also developed coordinated efforts regarding posting blogs, newsletters, and social media posts that involved extension specialists, educators and assistants.
