Agee to discuss new book

Great Plains Art Museum

Jonis Agee, professor of English, will discuss her new novel, “The Bones of Paradise,” in a 3:30 p.m. Oct. 26 presentation at the Great Plains Art Museum, 1155 Q St.

Called “the finest western novel since ‘Lonesome Dove,’” Agee’s book is a multigenerational family saga set in the Nebraska Sandhills 10 years after the 1890 massacre at Wounded Knee.

The story opens with J.B. Bennett, a white rancher, and Star, a young Native American woman, being murdered in a remote meadow. The deaths bring together the scattered members of the Bennett family. As the mystery of the deaths unfold, the history of the dysfunctional Bennett clan and their secrets are revealed.

Agee is the award-winning author of “The River Wife.” For more information, click here.
