The Nebraska Alumni Association is the on-campus partner for the annual “One Day Without Shoes” event. Organized by People’s City Mission and Cornhusker Bank, the event aims to collect used footwear for people in need.
From Aug. 31 through Sept. 12, Nebraska alumni, staff, students and friends are encouraged to bring wearable, used shoes to the Wick Alumni Center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays. The footwear will be distributed to Nebraskans in need by People’s City Mission.
“Nebraska alumni have a generous passion for giving back to our community and our neighbors,” Nebraska Alumni Association Executive Director Shelley Zaborowski said. “We’re proud to help our alumni family and our campus community make a positive difference in people’s lives and show that Huskers pull together to do good.”
Now in its 10th year, “A Day Without Shoes” partners have collected more than 162,000 pairs of shoes and more than $75,000 in monetary donations. Learn more about the event and see a full list of collection locations across Lincoln online.
