The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Police Department has released the annual campus security and fire safety report. The 2020 report, which is available online, contains the university’s crime and fire statistics for the last three years.
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all members of the university community. In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Act, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Police Department generates an annual campus security and fire safety report. The report is normally distributed before Oct. 1 each year. The U.S. Department of Education extended the deadline to Dec. 31 this year in response to the pandemic.
The UNL Annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report contains the university’s crime and fire statistics for the previous three years — 2017, 2018, 2019 — and includes a list of resources available to victims of crimes; various campus policy statements; tips on personal safety; information on how to report crimes; and details about campus programs on safety, security, drugs/alcohol, disciplinary procedures, fire safety and evacuations.
Police encourage the university community and members of the public to review the report, which includes a range of matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. The university also maintains a daily crime and fire record. Names and specific locations, such as residence hall room numbers, are not included in the daily record. The log can be viewed online or in hard copy form at police headquarters during normal business hours.
A free paper copy of the report can be requested in person at UNLPD headquarters, located at 300 N. 17th St., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by emailing unl.police@unl.edu. Additional reports and statistics related to security on campus are available online.
