The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Eisentrager-Howard Gallery will host the 38th Annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition. The exhibition opens with a First Friday reception, 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 7, and continues through March 7.
A closing reception will be 5 to 7 p.m. March 7 in the gallery, with awards presented at 5:30 p.m. More than 10 awards will be announced, including the Faulkner Memorial Awards.
The exhibition features 70 undergraduate artists. Mediums range from digital to traditional.
The guest juror is Meagan Dion, who works at the Nebraska Arts Council. She administers the state-mandated 1% for Art public art program and the Individual Artist Fellowships program for the council. Dion oversees the council’s Fred Simon Gallery and Governor’s Residence Exhibition program. She is also on the advisory board for the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for Arts in Nebraska City.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in art history at the University of Central Missouri in 2011, Dion earned her Master of Science in arts administration at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She has held a variety of positions in museums, galleries and other non-profit organizations. Her role as the lead curator at the Washington Pavilion Visual Arts Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, offered opportunities to engage with the community and think critically while managing exhibitions and collections.
In her current and previous roles, her favorite aspect includes developing productive and meaningful relationships with artists, peers and constituents. She resides in Alvo, where, on her small farm, she is an avid gardener.
