The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Institute for Innovation and Leadership, formally known as the Institute for Inclusive Innovation, has open its application for the 2025-2026 cohort. The deadline for students to apply is April 18.
Organized by the Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services, the institute is a leadership cohort program designed to empower rising sophomores and juniors from diverse academic backgrounds and skillsets, fostering a richly varied pool of intellectual talent. Through the program, students will enrich their understanding of leadership, intercultural excellence, and innovation through workshops and seminars. Participants also apply what they have learned through an innovation experience or specialized project tailored to their interests and career aspirations.
The program spans one year, intentionally divided into fall and spring semesters.
In the fall, students will complete a nine-week course seminar, gain resources and hear from guest speakers across many industries. The lessons focus on three areas — cultural intelligence, innovation, and professional preparedness like branding and networking.
In the spring, students develop the innovation project or experience to apply and acquire knowledge and real-world skills. The experiences may include working within an organization, working alongside a c-suite leader or entrepreneur mentor, or completing a more tailored leadership or innovation project.
Students who complete the institute develop skills, make professional connections that can benefit careers, and receiving mentoring and coaching. Participants can receive up to $1,200 for the immersive spring experience.
