Associate vice chancellor for enrollment management finalists named

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has announced three finalists for its next associate vice chancellor for academic services and enrollment management. Selected through a national search, the candidates will virtually visit campus between May 14-21.

The candidates will participate in multiple-day online interviews including virtual public presentations. The finalists, listed by public presentation date, are:

May 15 — Manicia Finch, associate vice chancellor of enrollment management, Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)

May 19 — Patrick Winter, associate vice president for admissions and enrollment management, University of Georgia (Athens, Georgia)

May 21 — Matt Ellis, executive director for enrollment services, University of Nebraska–Lincoln

The associate vice chancellor for academic services and enrollment management will collaborate with campus leadership to expand the reach and profile of the university’s academic programs, promote educational access, and support student achievement from application to graduation. The associate vice chancellor oversees the process for developing enrollment projections and providing enrollment data to academic leaders in support of institutional budgeting and planning and provides visionary leadership to a team of dedicated enrollment and academic service professionals.

Manicia Finch
Finch

Manicia Finch interviews May 14-15. Finch serves as associate vice chancellor of enrollment management at Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College where she is responsible for access and retention, specifically, the admission, recruitment, financial aid, matriculation and graduation of a diverse student population. She has developed a shared vision and blueprint for enrollment management operations that fully engages students, faculty, staff and alumni across divisions, departments and curriculum to ensure a progressive and consistent plan for enrollment growth. Finch is committed to promoting educational opportunities in urban and rural areas and providing the resources and tools necessary for low-income and under-served populations to gain access to quality educational experiences. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications and marketing from Alabama A&M University and participated in Harvard University’s Summer Institute for admissions. At Capella University, she completed a Post-Masters Certificate in enrollment management, earned a Master of Science in Higher Education specializing in enrollment management, and a Doctorate of Education with a focus on educational leadership and management.

Patrick Winter
Winter

Patrick Winter interviews May 18-19. Winter is the associate vice president for admissions and enrollment management at the University of Georgia. In this role, he is responsible for the recruitment and selection of new students at the university, the awarding of more than $7 million in merit based scholarships annually, new student orientation, and providing students with the tools they need to successfully transition to the institution. During his tenure at Georgia, he has overseen a 90% increase in first-year applications while also increasing first-year key performance indicators and diversity of enrolling students. He serves as a member of the College Board’s Enrollment Leadership Group, an advisory board to the organization, and was a member of the College Board’s Recruitment and Admissions Advisory Board. Winter began his career in the Office of Admissions at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and has been working in college admissions and enrollment management at both the undergraduate and graduate level for 25 years. He earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from Auburn University and a Master of Education in higher and postsecondary education from Arizona State University.

Matt Ellis
Ellis

Matt Ellis interviews May 20-21. Ellis is the executive director for enrollment services at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He leads the offices of Admissions, Scholarships and Financial Aid, New Student Enrollment, Enrollment Marketing, and Enrollment Technology in the collaborative pursuit of Nebraska's strategic enrollment goals. He has implemented innovative approaches to predictive analytics, financial aid modeling, mindset marketing, and market research on tuition elasticity and online programs. Over the past 13 years, Ellis has served large public and small private universities in leadership roles. As associate provost for enrollment management at Rockhurst University, he led the reorganization of its first enrollment management division, systemically aligned recruitment and retention strategies to increase total enrollment, and implemented its first customer relationship management project. As executive director of admission services for Arizona State University, he oversaw undergraduate and graduate recruitment and admissions across five campuses and led the effort to enroll over 10,000 freshmen for the first time in university history, while increasing access, diversity, and academic profile. He has a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and a Master of Business Administration from Rockhurst University.
