The Glenn Korff School of Music’s Big Band performs 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 in Kimball Recital Hall.
The concert is free and open to the public. The concert will also be available live webcast.
The Big Band, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s repertory jazz ensemble, is under the direction of graduate student Bryan Canonigo. Their concert is titled “Introducing.”
The program includes Tiny Bradshaw and Bobby Plater’s “Jersey Bounce,” arranged by Matt Harris; Duke Ellington’s “Cottontail,” arranged by Joe Hasper; Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Desafinado,” arranged by Harris; Turner Layton and Henry Creamer’s “After You’ve Gone,” arranged by Dave Wolpe; Johnny Mandel and Johnny Mercer’s “Emily,” arranged by Sam Bennie; and Thelonious Monk’s “Straight, No Chaser,” arranged by Frank Mantooth.
