Welcome back. The fall semester is just around the corner, and it’s time to welcome new students to campus, get back out into the community, cheer on the Huskers and start the semester off right.
Here are five things to do in August:
Big Red Welcome | On Campus
August 14–21
Help new Huskers kick off their college experience with Big Red Welcome, the weeklong celebration and introduction to the Nebraska community. Among the activities are the Tunnel Walk, Chancellor’s BBQ and campus tours. There are plenty of ways for students, staff and faculty to get involved. See the full week’s events here.
Free Ice Cream with 402 Creamery | Nebraska Union
2-4 p.m., August 14-15
We all scream for ice cream! Students can receive free ice cream from the 402 Creamery truck parked at the Nebraska Union during the first two days of move-in week.
Hub Farmers Market | Union Plaza
5-7 p.m. every Wednesday
A newer addition to Lincoln’s Farmers Market lineup, this evening market features live music, local vendors and a family-friendly atmosphere worth checking out.
Volleyball Day in Nebraska | On Campus
Aug. 30
It’s Game Day in Nebraska. This time, though, the record-setting feat of fan attendance in Memorial Stadium will be a celebration of volleyball’s impact on the state and university. Even if you weren’t able to score tickets to this doubleheader, the atmosphere around the stadium, campus and city will surely be electrifying.
