The Institute for Ethnic Studies and the African-American Studies program will celebrate Black History Month by exploring the role of Black musicians in inspiring social change via a virtual panel from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 25.
The panel will feature diverse and distinguished Black scholars discussing the songs that have captured their hearts and still revitalize their imaginations for social justice Black liberation today. The panelists include Dawne Y. Curry, associate professor of history and ethnic studies, University of Nebraska–Lincoln; Andes Neergaard, professor of culture and society, Linköping University, Sweden; Marvin Lynn, dean of the College of Education, Portland State University; and Lory Dance, associate professor of sociology and ethnic studies, University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
The event is free and open to the entire campus community.
