The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Bureau of Sociological research has started planning data collection for the 2025 Winter NASIS, or the Nebraska Annual Social Indicators Survey.
Every year, BOSR fields this omnibus survey of Nebraskans. Interested researchers can buy space on NASIS to ask questions on topics of interest. The cost of fielding is shared across multiple NASIS researchers and BOSR itself. One page of questions is $7,500, and the researcher obtains information on the purchased questions along with all of the core items in NASIS. Researchers with less than one page of questions will have costs allocated accordingly. For example, two or three multiple-choice questions would take up only one-fourth of a page and cost $1,875. This is significantly less than fielding a stand-alone probability survey to collect data, and a great example of how communal resources help save researchers money while maintaining high quality data collection to support grants and contracts.
BOSR would like to initiate discussions with prospective Winter NASIS clients as soon as possible and no later than Nov. 1. If you are interested in purchasing survey questions, or simply have questions about possible involvement, please contact Amanda Ganshert at aganshert@unl.edu to review your research needs and discuss how NASIS might be used to meet them.
In addition to NASIS, BOSR is a one-stop data collection shop. If researchers need to collect data (survey or otherwise), conduct or transcribe interviews, or conduct focus groups, BOSR can help. We offer two hours of free consultation to anyone who needs a quick questionnaire review, help filling out an IRB form, or other such minimal consulting. We collect data in a wide variety of modes (mail, web, telephone, and in person).
If faculty, students, or researchers are thinking about collecting data or submitting an internally- or externally-funded grant proposal with survey data collection, please reach out for methodology consultation and a budget estimate to include in the proposal by emailing bosr@unl.edu.
