Fifty coats in five days — that’s the goal of Operation Warmth, a campus coat drive happening through July 12.

Faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to check their closets, thrift stores or clothing outlets for new or gently used winter coats and jackets. Donated coats can be dropped off at the University Health Center, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through July 12. The winter coats and jackets will be distributed in early autumn to Husker students in need, starting in early September. Students will be able to pick up an item discreetly and free-of-charge through several campus partners.

Why July? The goal is to have items already on-hand for distribution to Huskers before the first cold temperatures in September and early October. If the goal of collecting 50 coats falls short, organizers will have additional time to procure the remaining coats and jackets.
