It’s degree season at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln! As our community readies for finals week and commencement celebrations, soon-to-be alumni are urged to step out onto campus and take a few photos, forever capturing images of their educational success.
To help Husker graduates celebrate their accomplishments — and possibly share their success on Instagram — here’s a guide to the most eye-catching spots on City and East campuses.
The Columns
The Columns outside of Memorial Stadium are a campus tradition. Rumor has it that they’ll crumble if anyone graduates without being kissed. While we’re not sure that’s true, one thing we do know for certain is that it’s a great spot for pictures.

Love Library South
Love Library gives a gorgeous backdrop for any photo. Its wide-open green space and gorgeous garden provides plenty of photo opportunities.

Love Library North
Easy and breezy — the trees behind Love Library North bloom every spring and create a beautiful springtime backdrop. What more can we say… we love taking photos by Love!

East Campus Loop
The entrance to the East Campus Loop is a stellar location for your grad pics. It’s got everything you need for an classic commencement photo, including the Nebraska “N,” academic buildings and plenty of room to throw your cap.

Nebraska Union
The Nebraska Union almost offers as many amazing photo spots as it does delicious dining spots. We recommend taking your grad pic in front of the south entrance, the columns on the north side or inside on the winding staircase.

Home to your campus memories
Is there a certain spot on campus that tugs at your heartstrings? Commemorate it in your commencement photo! We’ve seen students snap photos by the places that made them fall in love with fitness, the campus paths where they walked their pups, or the sorority houses where they studied with their Greek sisters.

That B1G, iconic “N”
Show your Husker pride by posing in front of the Wick Alumni Center’s “Value of N” statue.
Now that you have the scoop on the best photo spots on campus, the rest is up to our graduates! Go grab a friend (or a photographer), don’t forget your gown and/or regalia, and get out there capture a few more memories to savor as you venture forth into new careers and opportunities. Oh, and don’t forget to say cheese!
