Campus Recreation is offering an in-person 10-week Athletic Training Basics course during the spring 2025 semester.
Led by certified athletic trainers Jennifer Krueger and Samuel Mfinanga, the course will cover various health topics, hands-on learning and skills assessments, including legal issues, basic evaluations of the head, shoulder, knee and ankle, wound care and stretching.
The non-credit course is for students who are pursuing a career within a coaching or medical field, such as an AT,PT,PA,MD or dietitians, or any person interested in learning about basic athletic care.
The course fee is $75 per person. Two separate sections of the course are being offered, starting on January 29 and 30. Both sections meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 230C inside the Campus Rec Center.
To register for the course, students should visit the Member Services Desk at the Campus Rec Center on City Campus or the Rec and Wellness Center on East Campus.
Students who successfully complete all requirements for the course will be eligible to interview for an on-campus student job with Campus Recreation's Injury Prevention and Care staff. Injury Prevention and Care student shift hours count as patient contact hours on post graduate applications for most healthcare tracks.
