Political satire group The Capitol Steps, country legend Clint Black, Twyla Tharp’s renowned dance company and a Rat Pack tribute are coming to the Lied Center for Performing Arts in October.

The Capitol Steps, Oct. 21, 7:30 p.m. – Move over Fox News, CNN and MSNBC. For the best election news and political analysis, The Capitol Steps trump them all. The irreverent D.C.-based troupe pokes fun at all sides of the issues – from left to right, and all points in between – with fresh material inspired by the latest headlines, scandals and more. Clint Black, Oct. 23, 7 p.m. – Black is back. The country star has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and has racked up 31 top-10 singles on the Billboard country charts, including 22 No. 1 songs. His hits include “A Better Man,” “Killin’ Time,” “Like the Rain,” “When I Said I Do” and “Nothin’ But the Taillights.” Tickets
Twyla Tharp: 50th Anniversary Show, Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m. – The influential dancer and choreographer will bring her company to the Lied for an evening of new work, including “Fanfare,” “Preludes and Fugues” and “Yowzie.” Tharp’s dances are known for creativity, wit and technical precision, coupled with a streetwise nonchalance. Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show, Oct. 28, 7:30 p.m. – Travel back to the days of highballs, hijinks and happy hour with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Dean Martin. Featuring a live orchestra and classic songs such as “For Once in My Life,” “My Way” and “Mack the Knife,” the show hearkens back to the Rat Pack’s legendary Las Vegas performances at the Sands Hotel.
