The newest graduates of Dear Old Nebraska U transformed mortarboard to canvas, adorning the traditional graduation cap with personal (and academic) touches that ranged from bejeweled apples, mini ecosystems and dog photos to world maps, vinyl records and inspirational credos.
More than 3,600 Huskers — a record number — earned a degree this May. Presiding over his last commencement ceremony, Chancellor Ronnie Green urged graduates to follow the words of late Nebraska punter Sam Foltz: Dream big, work hard, stay humble.
