Chancellor Rodney D. Bennett announced a restructuring of his executive leadership team and cabinet in an Aug. 20 email to faculty and staff.
Changes announced include:
- Adding faculty, staff and student representatives to the chancellor’s cabinet;
- Renaming the vice chancellor for student affairs to the vice chancellor for student life. The position, held by Dee Dee Anderson, is also being realigned to report directly to the chancellor;
- Renaming the Office of Research and Economic Development to the Office of Research and Innovation;
- Dissolution of the Office of Diversity and elimination of the vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion position;
- Starting a review of UNL hiring practices, to be led by Mike Zeleny, vice chancellor for business and finance; and
- Naming Josh Davis, chief of staff to the chancellor, to serve in an expanded role as vice chancellor for institutional strategy and external relations. Duties will include overseeing an update of UNL’s strategic plan; implementing strategic initiatives; and coordinating the work across the chancellor’s leadership team and with NU system partners.
