Chancellor Rodney D. Bennett announced Nov. 10 the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s final plan for a $27.5 million budget reduction. The plan has been submitted to the NU Board of Regents and will be considered at its December meeting.

The plan reflects adjustments made following campus review and input gathered through the Academic Planning Committee. Bennett said the reductions are necessary to address years of expenses exceeding revenue and to ensure the university's long-term financial sustainability.

“I have a strong conviction that even though what we are doing is very difficult, it is in the best interest of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s long-term future,” Bennett said.

Bennett thanked faculty, staff and students for their engagement and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to a transparent process guided by UNL’s formal budget-reduction procedures. Read the chancellor's message.
