The Chiara String Quartet will launch the 2017-18 Hixson-Lied Concert Series with a 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 concert in Kimball Recital Hall.
The quartet has announced that this will be its farewell season at Nebraska. The Sept. 13 recital, which will be the first of three performances in the concert series, will feature Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in A minor, Op. 13; Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8 in C minor, Op. 110; and Debussy’s String Quartet in G minor, Op. 10.
Members of the Chiara String Quartet are Rebecca Fischer and Hyeyung Julie Yoon on violins, Jonah Sirota on viola, and Gregory Beaver on cello. The quartet has been in residence at Nebraska’s Glenn Korff School of Music since 2004. Members will continue as faculty in the Korff School through the 2018-19 academic year.
Tickets to the recital are $20 general admission, $10 for senior citizens and $5 for students. Tickets to all three concerts in the series are also available for $50 general admission, $25 senior citizens and $10 for students.
