Children's books sought for Malone Community Center

The College of Education and Human Sciences Student Advisory Board is conducting a children’s book drive for the Malone Community Center in Lincoln. The drive will run through Nov. 16.

All students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members are encouraged to donate lightly used or new books that would be appropriate for children aged 3 to 14. Drop-off locations are Henzlik Hall, University Health Center, Home Economics, Barkley Center and College of Dentistry.

Participants who donate three or more books during these times, at these locations, will receive a free College of Education and Human Sciences T-shirt:

  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 2 and 6, Henzlik Hall
  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 13, Home Economics

The Malone Community Center is a key community resource for children in need of quality after-school education. Nearly all Malone Community Center students qualify for free and reduced lunch services. Some are currently living in foster care, motels or at a city mission, and on average, they move every three to four months. The center’s goal is to ensure these students excel in school and one day, earn a college education.
