
The University of Nebraska College of Law will award more than 140 degrees during a May 3 commencement ceremony.
The Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St., will host the ceremony at 2 p.m. Doors open to the public at 1 p.m. The ceremony is expected to last one-and-a-half to two hours. A reception will follow immediately after in the orchestra lobby.
Dean Richard E. Moberly will preside over the ceremony, and Chancellor Rodney D. Bennett will confer degrees. Robert C. Denicola, Margaret R. Larson Professor of Intellectual Property Law Emeritus in the College of Law, will deliver the keynote address.

Denicola received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University and Juris Doctor and Master of Laws from Harvard University. He worked at a Boston law firm before joining the Husker faculty in 1976, where he taught contract law, copyright, and unfair competition law for 48 years. He served as acting dean of the college from 1994-1996. He was also a visiting professor at Cornell University and the University of Alabama.
Denicola’s accolades include the International Trademark Association’s Ladas Prize and the University of Nebraska Distinguished Teaching Award. He twice received the College of Law’s Alumni Council Distinguished Faculty Award and was named Professor of the Year by students in numerous years. Denicola has written a casebook on copyright law, now in its 13th edition, and was the co-reporter for The American Law Institute’s Restatement of Unfair Competition.
Guest parking for commencement, including accessible parking, is available in the Que Place Garage, directly south of the Lied Center, or at metered spots. A drop-off area for mobility-restricted guests will be in front of the east entrance, along 12th Street.
Guests should use the east or south entrances. Tickets are not required for the ceremony, and there is no limit to the number of guests per graduate. All seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Those needing accessible seating should ask an usher for assistance. Assisted listening devices for those who are hearing impaired are available at the coat check in the orchestra lobby.
Event staff and University Police will be on hand to assist guests and provide security.
Graduates should check in no later than 1:15 p.m. They should enter through the Johnny Carson Theater on the west side of the Lied Center, with their gown, tam and hood, as well as any honor cords or medallions. Personal items should be left with family or friends or in a locked vehicle. Unless purchased, robes should be returned to the Carson Theater after the ceremony.
Those participating in the Family Traditions Ceremony should arrive at 12:30 p.m. and report to the Lied Commons, on the northeast corner of the building. The ceremony will begin at 12:45 p.m. and conclude in time for graduates to report for lineup.
