Lauren Flickinger (front) and Chloe Mann, both senior civil engineering majors, cheer as they return to the shore after competing in the female sprint of the Concrete Canoe Competition at Holmes Lake on April 5. The event was part of the American Society of Civil Engineers' Mid-America Student Symposium, hosted April 3-5 by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's College of Engineering.

More than 400 engineering students and faculty from six states will attended, testing their professional skills and demonstrating the innovation and creativity of future engineers. Events included the design, fabrication and racing of concrete canoes; building of steel and 3D-printed bridges; and surveying.

  • For the 11th time, a contingent of University of Nebraska–Lincoln students are helping provide hospitality services for the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.   • Huskers earned a behind-the-scenes tour of the Lincoln Airport as part of a guest services management class. The tour included the chance to walk on the airport tarmac and learning about the history of the facility. Learn more at https://go.unl.edu/6a70.
  • Students in the Nebraska Space, Cyber and National Security Law program attended the 40th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs. Along with seeing the local sites, the students met with industry experts in the symposium’s space law track. Learn more at https://go.unl.edu/o0u8.
