Chinese cooking classes presented by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Confucius Institute continue Sept. 19. Participants will make traditional Chinese dumplings.

The free classes, which are offered quarterly, are open to students, faculty and staff. Space is limited to 20 participants.

The Sept. 19 course, which is 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Ruth Leverton Hall cooking lab, Room 206, is part of the Confucius Institute's Chinese Culture Festival. During the classes, Confucius Institute instructors demonstrate two dishes, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience following detailed recipes. Each person in the classes will have the chance to sample food made.

Popular course projects include stir-fry and making different shaped wontons and crab Rangoon. Dishes featured in past courses include moo shu pork, Chinese pepper steak, cashew chicken and Kung Pao shrimp.
