
The Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services will host a conversation with Helen Zia from noon to 1 p.m. April 30 at the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center Unity Room.

Zia will share her journey from community organizer to acclaimed author, exploring themes of justice, solidarity and the evolving Asian American narrative.
Zia's impact spans generations. Her groundbreaking works, including “Last Boat out of Shanghai: The Epic Story of the Chinese who Fled Mao's Revolution" and “Asian American Dreams: The Emergence of an American People" have not only reshaped the understanding of Asian American history but have also inspired movements nationwide. During the moderated conversation, Zia will delve into her experiences, from her pivotal role in the Asian American civil rights movement to her ongoing efforts to foster solidarity against hate.
