The Employee Assistance Program is offering an educational and experiential workshop for couples.
The six-week, Gottman Institute Seven Principles Couples class opens with a 4 to 5 p.m. session, April 12 in the Nebraska Union (room posted). The deadline to register is March 22.
The course will be led by Valerie Williams, a counselor and trainer with the Employee Assistance Program. Williams is a certified Seven Principles educator and has completed level one training of Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
The class is designed for any couple in a committed relationship. Topics will include:
Fostering respect, affection and closeness in a relationship;
Building and sharing a deeper connection with each other;
Keeping conflict discussions calm and breaking through conflicted gridlock; and
Strengthening and maintaining gains in a relationship.
Cost is a one-time charge of $49 for educational materials, including two guides, a copy of the “Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work” and Love Maps and Open-Ended Questions card decks.
