Stacey Decker has been appointed Nebraska Public Media's next general manager and chief executive officer following a national search.
He will officially assume the position Oct. 14. Katherine Ankerson, executive vice chancellor, made the announcement on Aug. 20.

Decker is an accomplished public media executive with more than 25 years of experience in local, regional and national broadcasting markets. He currently serves as the senior vice president of innovation and systems strategy at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, developing and implementing strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the relevance and sustainability of public media stations through innovation, business transformation, and extending audience reach and engagement. He leads a federal grant program for public television and radio that distributes over $90 million into the public media system.
Prior to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, he founded and served as president of Public Media Management, a collaboration between GBH and Sony, where he successfully transitioned the organization into a for-profit business, managing day-to-day business operations, developing operational policies, fostering growth, and building alliances and partnerships with other organizations. Decker also spent time as chief technology officer at GBH, managing its technology roadmap, strategic planning, operations, and infrastructure management.
Decker was also a founding member of Signal Infrastructure Group, developing strategies to assist the broadcast industry in leveraging ATSC 3.0 technology aiming to improve the revenue profile for broadcasters. He led the planning and implementation of cloud strategies for technology migration and replacement, optimizing service and cost while aligning with business segment priorities. Additionally, he organized, designed, and launched a statewide education service supported by the state of Michigan, expanding access to quality educational content.
Decker previously served as assistant general manager at Nebraska Public Media, where he implemented cost-saving measures, developed scalable software platforms, and expanded production capabilities, showcasing his multifaceted expertise in media management and strategic leadership.

Mark Leonard, current general manager and CEO, previously announced his plans to retire.
