Before the first floor of Love Library North closes for Learning Commons project construction, the University Libraries are hosting a pair of events in the space.
With books, shelves and furniture removed, the libraries will host a Learning Commons information session on Sept. 9, and an opportunity to stroll through a 3-D history display on Sept. 10. The events are 2 to 4 p.m. each day.
Both events are free and open to students, faculty and staff.
The Sept. 10 history event is organized by assistant professors Heather Richards-Rissetto (anthropology) and James Coltrain (history). Through 3-D technology, visitors will get the chance to travel back in time and experience things like a Colonial-era fort and a Mayan temple.
The program also includes a variety of video demonstrations on HD monitors, free popcorn and motion sensing devices.
The Sept. 9 session will feature information about the Learning Commons project. It will include detailed plans available for review. The event also includes a free stress ball for participants and popcorn.
