Welcome to Explore Lincoln, a monthly column featuring events and things to do on campus and across Lincoln.
Bike LNK
With spring just around the corner, getting out and enjoying the warm weather is a must. Lincolnites have the option to explore the city through Bike LNK, a bike rental service with 19 different stations throughout downtown and East Campus.
To rent a bike, simply find one of the stations (one is located outside the Nebraska Union on R Street) and use the BCycle app to pay with a credit or debit card. A 30-minute ride costs $3, at which point the rider can leave the bike at any kiosk around town.
Trivia nights
Restaurants across Lincoln host a variety of trivia nights each week. Bison Witches, located at 1320 P St., has trivia at 7 p.m. each Tuesday; and Gate 25, located at 300 Canopy St. in the Haymarket, hosts it at 7 p.m. each Monday.
The university is also hosting an Office-themed trivia night from 7 to 9 p.m. March 13 in the Nebraska Union Crib.
New exhibits at Morrill Hall
Spring break is the perfect time to spend a day at Morrill Hall, home to the University of Nebraska State Museum. Visitors can check out the newly renovated Cherish Nebraska floor, see a planetarium show or view the traveling exhibits Sun, Earth and Universe and H2O Today.
Dinner and a show
The Dinner Detective is a murder-mystery show hosted each Saturday night at the Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel. From 6 to 9 p.m., guests attempt to solve the crime in question while interacting with performers hidden in the audience. Prizes are available for the top sleuths of the night.
Free meditation classes
Huskers have the chance to unwind with free meditation and mindfulness classes at the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts each Monday at 12:45 p.m. The classes are taught by Jesse Fleming, assistant professor of emerging media arts, and are open to all members of the campus and Lincoln communities.
