Get connected with over 60 Lincoln nonprofits

Interested in giving back to the Lincoln community? There’s no better place to learn about service opportunities than the Husker Civic Challenge Service Fair, held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 4 in the Nebraska Union. Over 60 Lincoln nonprofits will attend the event.

The fair will provide resources to students looking to complete their service-learning course requirement or find a community-based research project. Faculty and staff are also welcome to stop by.

All students with a valid NCard will receive a free Sheldon t-shirt, and the first 100 people to participate in the mural project will receive a free Sheldon campfire mug.

Visit Morrill Hall on Sensory Friendly Sunday

Morrill Hall will host a Sensory Friendly Sunday event, where children and adults with special needs can experience the museum in a quieter, more supportive environment, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 8.

During the event, exhibit audio will be turned down or off, and tactile objects will be available throughout the museum for visitors to touch. Sensory kits will also be available at the front desk. Each kit includes noise-canceling headphones, earplugs and fidgets to use in the museum.

Soak up fall weather at the Backyard Farmer Garden

Located near the Nebraska East Union, the university’s Backyard Farmer Garden is one of many outdoor spots to put on your Lincoln bucket list. It serves as a community and educational space and grew over 500 pounds of produce for local food pantries this summer.

The garden is free and open to the public. For directions, follow the Backyard Farmer signage around East Campus.
