Prairie Pines is hosting a family scavenger hunt from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 for Second Saturday.
This fall celebration includes creating a floral arrangement and roaming the woods and fields. The design team will lead the group on artfully filling the decorated wooden box. The box arrangement is $40.
Attendees can return for December Second Saturday with their decorated box and fill it with evergreens and pine cones for free.
Photographer Jennifer Schultz will be offering outdoor portrait mini sessions. Contact her at hello@jennifer-schulz.com to schedule an appointment. There is a $40 sitting fee for the mini session. This money will be gifted back to Prairie Pines Partners.
Kinetic Brew will be selling hot drinks and smoothies during the scavenger hunt. Veterans and active military receive a free coffee and discount on other drinks.
As for all Second Saturdays, the trails are open for wandering from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including the Nature Ninja course for kids.
Walter Thaine Bagley, forestry associate professor at University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 1959, and wife Virginia purchased the 145 acre row crop farm with a 10 acre native prairie, which is now the Prairie Pines Nature Preserve. Learn more about Prairie Pines.
