Feb. 2 winter weather closure announced

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln canceled classes and campus events for Feb. 2, 2016, as forecasts called for severe winter weather.

Snow and high winds were expected to make travel difficult, prompting the decision late Feb. 1 to close the university. All offices and clinics also are closed and only those individuals required to report during campus closedowns should report to work.

Employees should refer to Option 1 under the winter weather policies and procedures.

Whenever possible, the university does function during inclement weather. However, the decision to close the university in this case was made by the chancellor on the recommendation of the vice chancellor for business and finance. Local and regional weather conditions, local and regional forecasts and travel conditions, campus conditions and an evaluation of current available campus resources were considered.
