A retirement celebration for Loren Frerichs, disaster recovery/business continuity coordinator with Information Technology Services, is 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 16 in Love Library South, Peterson Room (221).

Frerichs is retiring after a 42-year career at the University of Nebraska, where he played a key role in safeguarding the university’s information technology systems and ensuring continuity of operations during disruptions that supported academic, research and administrative functions across campus.

In addition to his IT work, Frerichs contributed to the university’s academic mission through his involvement in the preservation of the Omaha (Umóⁿhoⁿ) language. He was part of the collaborative team that worked with the Omaha Nation and university scholars to produce "The Omaha Language and The Omaha Way," a textbook published by the University of Nebraska Press.

The reception is free and open to the public.
