For the next Global Cafe, Parker Krieg will present on how environmental humanities can help us understand the energy crisis in the Anthropocene at 1:30 p.m. March 31 via Zoom.
The environmental humanities offer perspectives into the anthropogenic era that has come to replace the imaginary previously held by globalization. In this talk, Krieg will discuss examples from his research into environmental literature and culture of the United States from the 1970s to the present. Encompassing the energy crisis, extraction and environmental memory in the Anthropocene, he asks how transformations in the material economy find expression in cultural narratives of an emerging planetary condition.
