Global Café to examine totalitarian societies, dissidents

Hana Waisserova, lecturer of modern languages and literatures, will lead a “Global Café: Totalitarian Societies and its Dissidents” talk at 3 p.m. March 9 in the Nebraska Union, Colonial A.

Waisserova will focus on totalitarianism, pathology of modern democracy, through an examination of what shapes totalitarian societies, culture, politics, values and identities.

The talk is free and open to the campus community. Refreshments and snacks will be served.

Waisserova’s talk commemorates the 40th anniversary of Charter 77, the Czech human rights civic initiative lead by Vaclav Havel, as a major human rights platform evolving out of dissent.
