“Global Glam: An Evening of Fashion, Diversity and Community” is set for 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 26 at the Wick Alumni Center and tickets are now available.
Global Glam will feature international and domestic students modeling traditional clothing from various world regions, designs created by students from the Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design Department and selected garments and accessories from participating independent retailers in the Lincoln community.
The event will also feature a Maker’s Market of garments and accessories created by local immigrant and refugee women affiliated with ECHO Collective, a stylish selfie station to commemorate the evening, global drinks and the intricate musical stylings of the Glenn Korff School of Music jazz trio. Appetizers will be provided by Venue Restaurant & Lounge. And buy an extra raffle ticket (or two) for a chance to win one of the unique items offered by participating local retailers. During the show, emcee and UNL student Jamieson Battistella will be the guide, as Lincoln DJ Erin Poor accompanies the student model-volunteers walking the runway.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the fashion show begins a 7 p.m. Semi-formal attire is highly encouraged. Attendees are welcome to traditional clothing that represents their culture and heritage or a favorite country from their travels.
Tickets are $15 for students, $20 for staff and faculty, and $25 for Lincoln community members. Some of the proceeds will be donated to local nonprofit ECHO Collective. One free raffle ticket is included with every ticket purchase.
The event is sponsored by the International Student and Scholar Office. For questions, contact Natalie Baskin at nbaskin2@unl.edu.
