Love and Husker spirit are in the air as the Glow Big Red — 24 Hours of Husker Giving campaign begins today.
Glow Big Red is the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s annual 24-hour giving event when Huskers around the world come together to support scholarships, colleges and programs, student groups and activities, inclusion, mental health and many other areas. Students, alumni, faculty, staff and the Husker community at large are invited to support the university they love by donating at glowbigred.unl.edu.
Gifts given during the event directly benefit students — like Marlana Saalfeld-Green, a junior secondary education and political science major, featured in the video above — and help clear paths toward earning a Big Ten degree.
Supporters can show their Husker hearts in three ways:
- Show your Husker love with a gift: Alumni, faculty, staff, students and the Husker community at large are invited to give here to the area of campus that means the most to them. Gifts can be made any time before noon Feb. 13.
- Spread the word: Show your Husker pride on social media using the hashtag #GlowBigRed and share the area of campus you are supporting.
- Earn some swag: Every donor who gives $75 or more will receive a pair of Husker fleece mittens as a thank-you gift.
Due to the winter storm, the Glow Big Red event for students, faculty and staff has shifted to 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 13. It will be held in the Nebraska Union (near the food court) and include Valentine's Day treats, games and details about the Glow Big Red campaign.
Supporters propelled the 2024 Glow Big Red to record donations. Last year, the Husker community raised $823,041 to expand opportunities for Husker students. Glow Big Red started in 2019 in recognition of the university’s 150th anniversary.
