The University of Nebraska–Lincoln conferred 1,404 degrees to students during “Go Big Grad: A Graduation Celebration” at 9 a.m. Dec. 19.
The celebration featured a recorded phone conversation between Chancellor Ronnie Green and billionaire investor, philanthropist and Husker alumnus Warren Buffett. Buffett, who rarely grants interviews, gave graduates advice on finding the right career, becoming lifelong learners and achieving meaningful success.
Members of the Husker community took to social media to react to Buffett’s words of wisdom:
I don't think there could be higher praise for our graduates. #GoBigGrad@WarrenBuffett: "The students I've seen from Lincoln are just outstanding. That makes me very encouraged about the world."

Warren Buffet during Nebraska's virtual graduation today was asked how best he recommends our students keep learning, "Read. I often get asked about what one person would I eat lunch with and when you read you can have lunch with a lot of people." So true. Wise advice. #GoBigGrad

It took about six years longer than expected, with fits and starts because of some bad advice, personal and professional struggle and a finish line in the middle of a global pandemic, but today I'm pretty proud to say I've earned my Masters of Science in Business Analytics. pic.twitter.com/tGfvHJq22I

One of the best things to happen for the Spargos in 2020 was the graduation of Ben Spargo from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln! Ben graduated with a degree in actuarial science and will begin his new job with Actuarial Resources Corporation in Overland Park, KS at the beginning of January. We couldn’t be more proud, and his virtual graduation was so much fun. #GoBigGrad #GoBigRed Ben Spargo Darryl SpargoBrian Spargo Drew Spargo Sarah Spargo Ann Tettambel
