Jim Hines
A retirement reception for Jim Hines, information technology manager for the School of Natural Resources, is noon to 1 p.m. April 12 at Hardin Hall, second floor lobby.
Hines is retiring after more than 45 years in information technology with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In the summer of 1971, he started as a student worker at the Mead research farm, which transitioned into his first job as a computer science programmer. He has also been with SNR since it formed in 1997.
Hines has seen almost the entire history of the computer age. When he chose computer science as a major at Nebraska, the program was just three or four years old.
The retirement reception for Hines is in conjunction with the SNR annual spring picnic.
