Hosts, students sought for 'Dinner in a Nebraska Home'

International students from four different countries were enjoying dinner at a faculty's home.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in the university's Dinner in a Nebraska Home program. Registration is open through March 28.

The International Student and Scholar Office will host Dinner in a Nebraska Home this spring. Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate.

Dinner in a Nebraska Home is an opportunity for international students to learn about different cultures while enjoying homemade food and connecting with faculty and staff outside the classroom. Through the program, volunteer faculty and staff members host groups of two to three international students in their home for dinner. The immersive cultural experience is an exchange that impacts all participants.

Participation requires minimal commitment. You will be asked to do the following:

  • Attend an meet and greet session;
  • Host or attend dinner; and
  • Complete an online assessment after dinner.

Informational “Meet and Greet” sessions are scheduled for March 28-30. Those sessions are:

  • 4:30 p.m., March 28, Pound Hall, Room 130;
  • 2:30 p.m., March 29, Pound Hall, Room 130; and
  • 5 p.m., March 30, Pound Hall, Room 130.

Participants only need to attend a single session. Indicating availability for multiple sessions will assist the International Student and Scholar Office to match faculty/staff with a student.

Registration, open through March 28, is available to faculty and staff online.
