Reflecting a long-standing tradition of academic excellence, Nebraska student-athletes continue to achieve at a high rate in the classroom.
At the conclusion of the 2021 fall semester, Nebraska’s all student-athlete cumulative grade-point average stood at 3.327. The all student-athlete cumulative GPA is the highest at Nebraska since the metric was first tracked during the 1992-93 academic year.
“I continue to be impressed by the outstanding academic accomplishments of our athletes,” said Dennis Leblanc, executive associate athletic director for academics. “I am thankful to all of our coaches for recruiting individuals who truly understand the positive impact that their Nebraska student-athlete experience will have on their future.”
The cumulative grade-point average success follows a number of recent and long-term academic milestones for Husker Athletics. Those successes in the classroom include:
An all-time high graduation success rate of 95% for all student-athletes in December— a mark that was third in the Big Ten and fourth among 109 public football bowl sub-division institutions;
114 student-athletes in football, volleyball, soccer and cross country (men’s and women’s teams) earning Academic All-Big Ten recognition;
419 student-athletes named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for the fall semester (3.0 GPA or greater), including 66 earning a 4.0 GPA;
Nebraska leads all Division I schools with 347 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans across all sports;
The Huskers lead the nation with 18 NCAA Today’s Top 10 Award winners.
