Instructors advised to update library catalog links ahead of spring semester

Starting the week of Dec. 21, the University Libraries will debut their new library catalog and discovery tool.

The change stems from an 18-month effort by the University of Nebraska Consortium of Libraries to upgrade to a new library services platform that touches nearly every aspect of academic library operations and has implications for materials linked in Canvas courses and syllabi.

Links created in the previous system that include encore.unl.edu or library.unl.edu in the URL will no longer be functional and will require updates. The change affects only links to library catalog records and does not affect URLs that include libraries.unl.edu or libproxy.unl.edu.

Instructors are encouraged to review all links to records in the previous catalog that are among their course materials for the spring semester. Updated training materials for users will also become available after the holiday break on the Libraries’ website and will be discoverable in the Canvas Commons.

Subject librarians are available to support instructors as they navigate the change and also welcome questions from campus stakeholders. For more information on the change, click here or contact your subject librarian for assistance.
