Jacht Agency has been named a Public Relations Student Society of America nationally affiliated firm. Although there are over 100 student-run firms operated by PRSSA chapters worldwide, only a select few are nationally affiliated.
As part of the affiliation process, the student-run agency established a new public relations department. After a semester’s worth of planning and collaborating with the university’s PRSSA chapter, Jacht successfully implemented two public relations positions within the agency.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by the international organization that sets the industry standard for the public relations profession,” said Jemalyn Griffin, Jacht director and the university’s PRSSA faculty adviser. “I’m immensely proud of our students at Jacht Agency for being recognized as a top student-run firm in the country and being given the opportunity to be recognized by PRSSA on a national scale.”
Firms seeking the national affiliation undergo a thorough application process reviewed by PRSSA National. Firms need to provide sound evidence that they meet three criteria: a solid PRSSA/PRSA connection, a high level of professionalism and an effective structure.
By earning this recognition, Jacht now has access to a client referral system that allows them to serve and produce meaningful work for clients. The agency may also apply for national awards.
“Becoming nationally affiliated is such an exciting achievement for both Jacht and PRSSA,” said Paige Heinemann, co-firm director for the university’s PRSSA chapter. “We now have the opportunity to put our skills to work on a larger scale while also continuing to learn and grow in the industry.”
Jacht will continue to provide quality service and work for its clients. With the addition of the public relations department and national affiliation recognition, the agency can further build its network and be a leader for student-run firms across the country.
