The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Jazz Orchestra and Big Band will open the 2016-17 concert season with a 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 concert in Kimball Recital Hall.
The repertoire will feature music highlighting events from the upcoming year. Selections will include works by Clare Fischer, Thad Jones, Victor Lewis and Anthony Newly.
The concert is one of four Glenn Korff School of Music performances during the week of Oct. 10-16. Other concerts are:
The Jazz Orchestra, directed by Paul Haar, associate professor of music, is the university’s showcase ensemble and one of the Glenn Korff School of Music’s most visible performance groups.
The Big Band, directed by Jesse McBee, a graduate student in music, is a part of the university’s jazz curriculum.
Tickets, available at the door, are $5 general admission and $3 for senior citizens and students.
