Jazz performances to be held Nov. 4, 5

Glenn Korff School of Music Jazz Combos will take to the stage on two nights this week.

The top jazz graduate combo at Nebraska’s Glenn Korff School of Music will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 via live webcast from Westbrook Recital Hall. This group features Metro Lyle on trumpet, Bryan Canonigo on saxophone, Tetsuya Nishiyama on guitar, Andrew Mell on bass and Andrew Wray on drums.

The band plays a variety of tunes, ranging from old jazz standards from the early 20th century, contemporary jazz from more recent years and some originals written for this concert. No in-person audience will be present.

Undergraduate jazz combos will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 via live webcast from Westbrook Recital Hall. These five groups are coached by current DMA students Andrew Mell, Tetsuya Nishiyama and Bryan Canonigo.

The groups play mostly classic jazz standards and American songbook tunes, with a few originals written by the undergraduate band members. No in-person audience will be present.
