July programs empower staff to communicate, lead, thrive

In July, University of Nebraska–Lincoln Organizational Development and Training is offering a trio of programs designed to enhance your professional skills, foster campuswide connection and refine your leadership approach. 

Whether you're looking to sharpen your communication, engage with colleagues across campus or transform your approach to performance management, these opportunities offer valuable insights and practical tools. 

NRICH: Say It Better: Using Intentional Language to Transform Communication 

1-2:30 p.m. July 15 | Nebraska Union Heritage Room 

Every word you choose shapes how you are perceived. This course empowers you to strengthen clarity, tone and professional relationships using intentional language. You will identify and overcome common communication pitfalls like hedging and jargon and learn to craft confident, positive messages with the 3Cs framework (Clear, Concise, Courteous). Sharpen your language, amplify your impact and elevate your professional voice. 

The UNL All-Staff Conference 

Noon-5 p.m. July 22, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. July 23 | Howard L. Hawks Hall 

Mark your calendars for the UNL All-Staff Conference, a two-day event at the College of Business' Howard L. Hawks Hall. This conference provides professional development, encourages cross-campus dialogue and offers support for university staff at every level. Designed to foster engagement and cultivate a supportive, inclusive community, the conference features staff presentations in breakout sessions. A virtual conference option will also be available. 

Summer Supervisor Series: Beyond the Annual Review

10-11:30 a.m. July 29 | Nebraska Union Platte River Room 

Transform your approach to employee development with this interactive session. Enhance your performance management practices by exploring a clear, practical framework. This program equips supervisors with strategies to implement performance management as a continuous, development-focused process, moving beyond traditional annual reviews.
