The University of Nebraska Press and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Creative Writing Program are celebrating the launch of the Zero Street Fiction series Nov. 2-3 with three events.
The launch will also honor Barbara DiBernard, professor emerita in English and Women’s and Gender Studies, who died Sept. 19.
The Zero Street Fiction series published the first book, “Forget I Told You This,” by Hillary Zaid in September, with the second title, “I Make Envy on Your Disco,” by Eric Schnall, forthcoming. Zero Street Fiction is committed to LGBTQ+ literary fiction with commercial potential, providing LGBTQ+ authors opportunities for a wide readership in the trade fiction market. The series editors are Timothy Schaffert, bestselling author of “The Perfume Thief,” and director of the Creative Writing Program, and SJ Sindu, author of “Blue-Skinned Gods.”
Launch events are as follows:
2 p.m., Nov. 2, Platte River Room, Nebraska Union: “Zero Street Fiction and the Tradition of LGBTQ+ Publishing,” a panel discussion
5 p.m. Nov. 2, Indigo Bridge Bookstore: Zero Street Fiction Launch Party — a celebration of Barbara DiBernard and the award in her name, with author Hilary Zaid
