Scott Schlarbaum, director of the University of Tennessee’s tree improvement program will deliver two free presentations on trees and planting May 10 in Keim Hall, Room 150.
The first talk, “A Little Southern Forestry in the Great Plains,” is noon to 1 p.m. and is aimed at homeowners and professionals. Schlarbaum will discuss the use of specific sections of hardwood trees for both urban and rural plantings.
The second session, “Using Historic Genetic Plantations to Meet Modern Needs in Nebraska,” is 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. In it, Schlarbaum will present a scholarly study of genetic selections of trees recommended for future plantings in Nebraska.
