A George Gershwin musical, acclaimed dance company and fierce comedy troupe are coming to the Lied Center for Performing Arts in February.

February’s shows:
Blue Man Group, Jan. 31, 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 1, 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 2, 2 p.m. — More than 35 million people worldwide have experienced the surprising and exciting show that is Blue Man Group. The bald and blue trio’s tour features original music, custom-made instruments, surprise audience interaction, and colorful moments of creativity and hilarious absurdity.
“An American in Paris,” Feb. 8, 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 9, 2 p.m. — Hoping to start a new life, World War II veteran Jerry Mulligan chooses newly liberated Paris as the place to make a name for himself as a painter. But Jerry’s life becomes complicated when he meets Lise, a young shop girl with her own secret — and realizes he is not her only suitor. Winner of four Tony Awards and inspired by the Academy Award-winning film, this production features such Gershwin classics as “I Got Rhythm,” “Liza,” “’S Wonderful,” “But Not for Me” and “Stairway to Paradise.”
Aquila Theatre in George Orwell’s “1984,” Feb. 18, 7:30 p.m. — Amid challenges to privacy, truth and personal expression, Aquila Theatre brings “1984,” Orwell’s cautionary novel, to the Lied stage. As the world grapples with the benefits and threats of technological integration, this prescient story resonates around the globe as individuals, systems and governments clash against political repression. “Big Brother” is always watching.
Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company: “What Problem?,” Feb. 22, 7:30 p.m. — A master of modern dance, Jones leads one of the world’s most iconic dance companies in its return to the Lied Center. With styles influenced by improvisation, African and Afro-Caribbean dance, and modern techniques, Jones has been honored with a National Medal of Arts, Tony Award and MacArthur Fellowship. This performance features one of the company’s latest works, “What Problem?,” a meditation on community building in a confusing era. The performance includes adult content and themes.
The Second City: “She the People,” Feb. 29, 7:30 p.m. — This sketch show is entirely created, designed and performed by the fearlessly funny women of The Second City. This mimosa-and-madness-fueled foray roasts the patriarchy, while taking on many modern issues and concerns. The performance includes adult content and themes.
